Recognised for bravery in the line of duty, courage under pressure, and a commitment to building resilience in others. Daryl has received these honours:
Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson awarded Daryl the Queensland Police Service Valour Award — the Service’s highest honour for bravery — for his actions in the line of duty during an armed ambush at West Chermside on May 1, 2000. The award was bestowed in recognition of actions of exceptional bravery in hazardous circumstances.
Daryl was recognised by Professional Speakers Australia with the 2019 Breakthrough Speaker of the Year Award. The award celebrates an emerging speaker who has achieved exceptional traction, audience impact, and professional momentum. This recognition marked a defining milestone in the evolution and history of TWICE SHOT.
Daryl was appointed a Lifeline Ambassador in May 2018 at a special event held at Queensland Parliament House. From 2018 to January 2025, he proudly championed Lifeline’s mission to prevent suicide and provide critical crisis support — amplifying a message of hope through advocacy, public speaking, and community engagement across Australia.
